If you’re on a keto or low-carb diet, chicken wings are an indulgence you don’t have to remove from your diet. In fact, chicken wings pack a bit of extra fat that can help you reach a higher fat ratio in your diet, if that’s one of your goals.
You might think that buffalo wing sauce, using Frank’s RedHot®, has added sugar that would make it not allowed on a keto diet, but it doesn’t.
In fact, it doesn’t have any added sugar. In 100 grams or Frank’s RedHot®, there are 2 grams of carbs, and in this recipe we use a bit less than that for 4 servings, so you’re effectively getting less than a quarter of a gram of carbs in this sauce.
Awesome! Bring on the wings!
Ingredients for Buffalo Chicken Wings
What you’ll need:
- Chicken wings
- Frank’s RedHot®
- Butter
- Garlic powder
- Worcestershire sauce
- Blue cheese dressing, for dipping (if desired)
How to Make Buffalo Wing Sauce
The sauce is really easy to make. You just need to melt the butter in a pan over low heat, then add the hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder and stir it all together.
This combination tastes very similar to the original from The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, New York.
Once the sauce is combined, you’ll want to keep it warm on the stove until the wings are cooked.
In this recipe, we bake the chicken wings on 400 degrees F for 30 minutes, turning once in the middle, to evenly cook both sides.
When they’re done, remove from the oven and add the wings to the pan with the sauce and toss to coat.
The butter in the sauce helps the sauce cling to the wings, so they stay nice and saucy.
Serve them with Blue Cheese or Ranch Dressing. They make the perfect appetizer, main dish, or game day snack.
What to Do with Leftover Sauce
We always have leftover sauce when we make this. I do that by design, because I love the sauce so much. It goes with so many great dishes.

What to Serve with Buffalo Chicken Wings
A side salad is always a winner with chicken wings. It evens out the calorie intake, so you don’t feel so laden after eating these for a meal. We particularly like serving it with a light Watermelon Arugula Salad or these super tasty BBQ Grilled Cauliflower Skewers.
During the winter, we turn to this Loaded Cauliflower Casserole as a side dish.
