How to Make Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
The key to making delicious crispy bacon wrapped asparagus is making sure the bacon isn’t wrapped too thickly. You really want to stay away from thick cut or center-cut bacon for this recipe. You want that really thinly sliced bacon that’s just about paper thin.
I always wrap two asparagus spears together with one piece of bacon. That makes it less bacon heavy and allows more air to flow, so the bacon turns out crispier and not soggy.
If you want to wrap each spear individually, I recommend cutting the bacon strip in half lengthwise so you’re using just a half piece of bacon for each spear. The bacon goes a long way in this recipe, so you don’t need to over-wrap.
When grilling, be sure to flip the asparagus spear as soon as the bacon crisps on one side. It’s really easy to overcook these guys. They need just 3-5 minutes per side, depending on the size of the asparagus and thickness of the bacon.

Grilled Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Ingredients
- 16 spears asparagus
- 8 strips bacon
Instructions
- Use one piece of bacon to wrap 2 asparagus spears together in the middle.
- Grill on an outdoor grill or grill pan for 5 minutes per side, or until the bacon is crispy.
Notes
- Using thin slices of bacon yields the best result. The thicker the bacon the longer it must cook, which can lead to overcooking the asparagus.
- If you choose to wrap each asparagus spear individually, cut the bacon strip in half lengthwise and use just one strip to wrap each spear.
